The images and choreographed narratives produced, create dualities which challenge our perceptions of the real and the illusory. An enduring theme linking each project is the synthesis of elements we would normally expect to see in juxtaposition. Pioneering works such as Winterspace and Summerbranch have received critical acclaim at festivals worldwide. Windowsninetyeight their first major work won a BAFTA nomination. igloo received a Royal Opera House commission for Goodbye Venus and more recently a NESTA award to research novel uses for 3D computer gaming engines. Their research into sensory environments for children has resulted in permanent installations in schools and in hospitals across the UK. This ongoing work has spawned KidZone which premiered at the Lille3000 festival. Gibson & Martelli were Artists-in-Residence at RMIT in Melbourne Australia in 2005 & 2006.
